THE REICHERT CLAIMING MAIDEN
HALTER FUTURITY
GOVERNING REGULATIONS
GOAL: The goal of the Reichert
Claiming Halter Futurity is to promote
the
halter horse industry by developing a venue for quality
halter horses to compete in an exclusive
show(s) for significant potential financial reward and
recognition.
The 2008 Futurity will consist of the
following two classes and is open to any breed:
1. Yearling mares
2. Yearling colts/geldings
Horses may not have been shown prior to the Reichert
Celebration. Must have registration papers.
Claiming Fee:
$12,500 or $15,000 or $20,000 (Seller designates claiming
price)
CLAIMING PROCESS:

Horse owner must sign and submit “offer
to sell” with claiming fee on June 15th when nominating
horse.

Two days prior to showing, slot owner
must submit original horse papers and signed transfer
form.

Purchaser must sign and submit “claim
slip” before placings are announced along with payment.
If paid by check, check will be made payable to slot
owner. If multiple claims are made, a lottery draw will
be used. Papers on the horse will be held by the
committee until check clears.

Prize money is paid to the person who
entered the horse.

Possession takes place when horse leaves
show pen.

If a horse is claimed, a administrative
handling fee of $400 will be assessed to the seller of
the horse.
AVAILABLE SLOTS AND COST PER SLOT:
Open yearling mares 25 slots $2,500
Open yearling colts/geldings 25 slots $2,500
PAY OUT:
if all slots are sold, $ 20,000 to the winner and 10
placings will be paid.

QUALIFIED
EXHIBITORS:
Exhibitors must apply to the Committee for approval.
Exhibitors in the yearling classes will be subject, at
least, to the minimum following
restrictions:

May not be an AQHA card carrying judge.

An exhibitor may not have won an open halter class at the AQHA World Show or an open halter class at the Quarter Horse
Congress
within the five (5) calendar years preceding the Reichert
Celebration. An exhibitor may not have won two or more open
world show halter classes at
the APHA World Show within the five (5) calendar years
preceding the Reichert Celebration. Limited class wins do
not apply for purposes of this
provision.

An exhibitor may not have won two or more amateur halter
classes at the AQHA and/or APHA world shows and/or at the
Quarter
Horse Congress within the five (5) calendar years preceding
the Reichert Celebration. Limited and youth class wins at
the aforementioned show do
not count for purposes of this provision.

Any first place exhibitor will not be eligible to compete
the following year only. A drawing for this slot will be
held at the completion of
the class and will be awarded to a non slot holder and is
present to win. This is a temporary slot for one year only.
Sign up at the Reichert
Celebration. The winning slots will then go back to their
original owners.
Immediate Family Members of individuals that are not
eligible to exhibit at The Reichert Celebration because they
do not meet the qualification
requirements shall not be eligible to exhibit. Immediate
Family Members are defined as “husbands, wives and
children/step-children” that reside in
the same household and/or are claimed as Dependents by the
non-qualifying individual on his/her federal income tax
return.

JUDGES: 4 judges will judge, low score dropped.
You will need to nominate your horse on a
designated date. A horse nomination form will be sent to
you.
